"In a land of deserts, long ago,

A tale of courage began to grow."

"The temple was taken, defiled with despair,

A sacred place now stripped and bare."

"Then rose the Maccabees, brave and strong,

Fighting for justice, righting the wrong."

"At last, the enemy was turned away,

The temple was theirs at the break of day."

"But when they sought oil to light the flame,

Only one jar of purest oil came."

A wondrous sight! The flame held true,

For eight long nights, it burned anew.

A sign of hope, of strength, of love,

A gift from the heavens and the stars above.

Now each year we light the menorah’s glow,

Remembering the faith of long ago.

Through dreidels, songs, and latkes we cheer,

To honor the miracle of Hanukkah here.
